The Silicon Dreams Podcast
The Silicon Dreams is a Radio Show hosted by RJ Shara that is broadcasted on Radio Zindagi 1170 AM in the Bay Area, California. The show curates the inside scoop from the birthplace of the Startup Ecosystem by exploring topics such as investment funding, sales and marketing, acquisitions, exits, etc. with prolific guests who are angel investors, venture capitalists, startup advisors, etc. It is no secret that the Valley has the best established startup ecosystem in the world and The Silicon Dreams makes this accessible to anyone and everyone across the globe.
In the fast-evolving world of Web3, where decentralization is more than just a buzzword, Ian Leviness stands out as a pioneer. On the latest episode of Silicon Dreams, host Tejaswini Satheesh sat down with Ian to explore how Push Protocol is reshaping decentralized communications and building thriving DAO ecosystems.
With a career spanning governance, branding, and operations across over 15 networks and DAOs, Ian’s journey reflects both the challenges and the promise of Web3. From empowering social impact movements to redefining how communities interact online, Ian’s vision for the future of DAOs is as ambitious as it is inspiring.
“We’re building the blockchain of communication.”
At its core, Push Protocol enables seamless, secure, and user-controlled communication on-chain. With over 650 integrations and 200 institutional partnerships, Push is creating a decentralized infrastructure where users can connect and collaborate without compromising privacy or data ownership.
“We’re making sure anyone can message anyone at any time on-chain—reliably and securely,” Ian explained.
Beyond push notifications and messaging channels, the platform is evolving into a comms powerhouse that reimagines the future of social media and digital interaction.
“Push DAO puts the power back in the hands of the people.”
Unlike traditional organizations where decision-making is centralized, Push DAO empowers its community to steer the ecosystem’s future.
“Push DAO, first of all, is the vehicle for the community to really have a say in all things Push,” Ian shared.
“Anyone can propose anything, gather support in an open forum, and as long as they have majority support, it passes. That’s the beauty of a community-led structure.”
With a delegate-based governance model, four out of five delegates are community members—ensuring that 80% of decision-making power rests with the people, not the institution.
Why Join Push DAO?
For those wondering what’s in it for them, Ian outlined three key benefits:
Earn – Contribute to the ecosystem and earn $PUSH tokens, which can be staked or used in governance.
Learn – Gain hands-on experience in decentralized leadership and technical innovation, supported by mentors within the community.
Shape the Future – Influence the next generation of Web3 applications, from subDAOs to global conferences.
“It’s rare to find a project where you can directly define its trajectory. At Push, early contributors have that chance,” Ian noted.
“A unified strategy is the key to DAO success.”
Balancing decentralization with an organization’s core values is no small feat. Ian stressed the importance of launching with a unified strategy:
“The DAO and the protocol must always work toward the same vision. That’s the only way to achieve harmony between community initiatives and the project’s mission.”
This alignment is supported by Push Improvement Proposals (PIPs), which allow both community members and foundation teams to suggest technical or operational changes.
DAOs, Social Impact, and the Future of Governance
Ian’s passion for leveraging DAOs for social good is evident in his work on chain-based initiatives supporting Ukraine, women’s rights in Iran, and beyond.
“When launching any decentralized initiative for social impact, the vision must align with the kind of change you want to create. Then, attach it to a market—people who care about helping you make that impact,” Ian explained.
He also sees DAOs redefining corporate governance:
“We’re moving toward an age where consumers will have a direct say about brands. They’ll vote on the next product line or feature, but companies may still retain treasury control.”
“AI will be the next big shift for DAOs.”
Looking ahead, Ian predicts AI will play a transformative role in DAOs. From AI agents acting as delegates to tools that streamline participation, he envisions a future where machine learning and decentralized governance work hand-in-hand.
“AI agents could be trained on DAO communications and governance rules, acting as delegates and incentivizing more participation. It’s a few years away, but the early experiments are already starting.”
What’s Next for Push Protocol?
The roadmap for Push Protocol is bold. With plans to become the “blockchain of communication”, the team is preparing to launch native push nodes, expand integrations to chains like Solana, and grow their grants program.
“We’re doubling down on our grants program in the new year. We’re looking for builders who can deeply involve the Push tech stack in their apps—not just basic notifications but full integration into the future of on-chain communication,” Ian revealed.
Final Thoughts
As the episode wrapped, Ian left listeners with an inspiring invitation:
“If you believe in a future where communication is decentralized and user-owned, join us. This is your chance to help define what comes next.”
With Push Protocol leading the charge, the dream of truly decentralized, user-centric communication is closer than ever.
Stay tuned to Silicon Dreams for more conversations with the visionaries shaping Web3—and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
